FAQ - Apartment's Applications
1. Who can apply for the UNSW Student Apartments?
Current and prospective students can apply for the UNSW Student Apartments. UNSW student ID is not required to apply for the apartments.
Only students who are enrolled as full time UNSW students are eligible to live at the Student Apartments. Foundation Year students and Institute of Languages students are not eligible to live at the Student Apartments until they are enrolled either as a UNSW undergraduate or postgraduate student.
2. When should I apply for the UNSW Student Apartments?
Applications for the UNSW Student Apartments are open all year round. There is no closing date.
3. What are the selection criteria for the UNSW Student Apartments?
Offers of accommodation are made on a first come first serve basis.
4. When are offers made for the UNSW Student Apartments?
Offers for tenancies commencing in Semester 1 are made from late November until late February. For Semester 2, offers are made during late June / early July. The offers are made until all of the rooms are occupied.
5. How does ASC notify successful applicants?
ASC’s preferred method of contact is email. However offers can also be made via telephone or mail. You must inform ASC immediately if any of your contact details change.
6. Will ASC inform unsuccessful applicants?
No, unsuccessful applicants will not be notified. You may contact ASC at any time to check your application status.
7. Can I find out my position on the waiting list and if I am likely to be made an offer?
In some instances it is possible to give you an indication of your position on the waiting list, however, this is not always the case.
8. Can I request a specific room?
Successful applicants can ask to be housed in a specific room or apartment, however, whether or not ASC can meet that request will depend upon room availability.
9. Am I able to choose my housemates?
As with room requests, successful applicants can specify who they would like to share with, however, whether or not ASC can meet that request will depend upon room availability.
10. Am I able to move into a same gender apartment?
Yes, you can request to share a same gender apartment, however, whether or not ASC can meet that request will depend upon room availability.
